Enjoying Things

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.
I Timothy 6:17

If you live in America, you are most undoubtedly considered rich.  If you have food to eat, running water, and a roof over your head, you are rich compared to most of the people in the world.  Yet, we are so discontent.  Being content is a much happier place to be in.

God doesn't say that being rich is a bad thing.  We are just not suppose to trust in our riches or think we are any better than anyone else.  He wants us to be generous and enjoy the things He has blessed us with.

I love it that He "gives us richly all things to enjoy."  Our families, friends, food, home, clothing, pets, ocean, sunsets, laughing, smiling, joy...All are given to us so that we might enjoy life and live it to the full.

Many people don't want to commit their lives to God, because they think that life won't be fun anymore.  They will have to give up getting drunk, looking at pornography, sleeping around, being angry and jealous, hating their neighbors, etc.  Look at the results that all these things produce.  Short term pleasure for long term pain.

God's ways are so good.  He knows what is best for us.  He loves us so much that He paid the penalty for all of our sins.  He sent His Spirit down to live inside of us.  He is our Comforter, Redeemer, Savior, and Lord.  He makes all things to work out for our good to those who love Him.

So why wouldn't you want to give your life to Him?  Allow Him to lead you beside the still waters?  I love His ways.  They produce abundant life!

Choose you this day whom ye will serve but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
